Blend science with spirituality.......
To understand how cosmology can be connected with spirituality, we first need to understand what spirituality is. In Hindi, spirituality is called "Adhyatma" which means knowledge related to the soul. But to understand Adhyatma, we must first understand what the soul is.
The soul is not just your or my individual self. The soul is also referred to as the Supreme Soul (Parmatma). When a person realizes that their own soul is the Supreme Soul, they are called spiritual, and the path they follow is known as spirituality.
Basically, there is no difference between the soul and the Supreme Soul; it is just a play of our mind. The mind always wants to feel superior. It uses words like "me, mine, myself," but doesn't understand what they truly mean. Who is this "me"?
This is the question that arises in the path of spirituality.
But what does this have to do with cosmology?
In simple terms, we are a small part of this vast universe. The elements that make up the universe are the same elements that make us. The electrons, protons, leptons, quarks, bosons that the universe is made of are the same building blocks we are made from. At the most fundamental level, there is no difference between us and the universe.
It is just like a bubble in the ocean. The water in the bubble and the water in the ocean are made of the same substance. The only difference is in the thinking of the bubble — it feels separate. If the bubble realizes that it is a part of the ocean, then it will understand where the ocean came from. Similarly, if we understand where we came from, we can begin to understand where the universe came from. And if we know our own source, we will also understand the source of the universe.
WHAT IS MODERN COSMOLOGY?
You can check in my previous blog too here you find purely scientific method .
Modern cosmology also asks the same questions — how did the universe begin? Where is it going? How will it end? Or in a more modern language: What is the Big Bang? What is that mysterious force that is expanding the universe (called dark energy)? What is that invisible matter that doesn't interact with light (called dark matter)? Understanding all this is the work of modern cosmology.
Now, let us look at some ancient concepts that prove there is no real gap between ancient cosmology and modern cosmology.
Science says: You are a form of the universe.
Spirituality says: "Aham Brahmasmi" — You are the universe itself.
Are both right? Or is there a contradiction? In fact, both are right in their own way. It is just a matter of perspective — like two sides of the same coin. From one side, you see the head; from the other, the tail. But when you zoom in, you realize both are parts of the same coin.
In the Rigveda, there is a shloka:
"Hiranyagarbhah samavartatagre bhutasya jatah patireka asit." (Rigveda 10.121.1)
It means: "In the beginning, there was the golden womb (Hiranyagarbha), from which all beings were born, and that is the Lord of all creation."
Here, it's not about a physical womb but a cosmic consciousness — the infinite seed of energy. From that womb, time, space, direction, five elements, life, planets, stars — all emerged. This is beautifully described in the Hiranyagarbha Suktam.
If we look at modern cosmology, it tells us that our universe was born 13.8 billion years ago. The entire universe was once a dense, hot, and singular dot — known as the singularity. Then suddenly there was an explosion — which science calls the Big Bang.
Science tells us how it happened. Spirituality tells us why it happened. This is a deep secret, and we are all in the process of exploring it.
Science observes the universe through telescopes. But we can also see the universe through meditation. How does that happen? I don't have a perfect answer, but I do have pieces of insight — which I will share in my upcoming blogs as my journey continues.
In the end, I would say that there is no difference between science and the universe. Ultimately, science is the study of nature, and studying nature is itself a spiritual act. Spirituality not only connects us to ourselves but also to the entire cosmos.
And the day we truly understand who we are, we will also begin to understand what the universe is. This is not just my opinion — many sages, saints, Buddha, and Mahavira walked this path and reached the truth of the cosmos. Who knows, maybe one day our journey will also lead us there.
